Did you know that the 18.09.2018 is the World Bamboo Day?

 

Thanks to the efforts of the World Bamboo Organization that was founded in 2004 the 9th World Bamboo Day is celebrated around the world. This day promotes the natural resource that is growing almost everywhere and raises awareness for the many reasons why we can cherish the bamboo plant.

 

For many people, bamboo has always been a part of their life because the plant is native to their home and culture. In Europe, the only continent where the bamboo plant is not native, the interest is increasing as well.

The bamboo plant comes in a variety of over 1500 different kinds. It is the fastest growing plant on the planet and it can be used in so many different ways, modern and ancient that it can be overwhelming at times. For many cultures bamboo has been vital for the development and everyday needs. Nowadays, modern technology even expands the uses of bamboo. There is much more to be learned about this marvelous plant. It is important to raise awareness for the further need of research, that can lead us into a more sustainable future.

The World Bamboo Day has really kicked off and is celebrated in Malaysia, Philipines, Uruguay, Mexico, South Africa, China, Japan.. and it is getting larger and larger!
